Trauma Program for Children
Children and adolescents often face challenges resulting from unexpected or traumatic experiences in their lives. We are now offering our research-based counseling program that is proven to help. The traumatic events this program can provide assistance for include parental divorce, loss of a loved one, bullying, and many others. We believe in providing this important service at an affordable rate. After an assessment, an education and coping skills series are provided over the course of four sessions. During the second phase of the program, we help the child or teen create a narrative or life story to process the thoughts and feelings related to the event. Not only is a parent session provided in this next series, but family therapy can be included for additional support. We offer this program for children and adolescents ages 4 to 18.
Youth ADHD Assessment
A formal ADHD diagnosis can not only provide answers to your questions about your child's behavior, but also opent he door for treatment which can take your child down a path to a healthier and more balanced life. Our program uses a carefully crafted combination of assessments and interviews in order to provide the most accurate and evidence based diagnosis.
The Youth ADHD Assessment here at Nemeth Counseling uses a combination of clinical interviews and testing/assessment which together paint a vivid picture of the child's experience. The assessment is for children under the age of 18.
The clinical interview is split up over two sessions. In the first session the clinicican will meet with the parents alone. This will provide the parents with an opportunity to speak freely about their concerns, the child's behavior, and allow the clinician to evalute the onset of symptoms as well as the way they have manifested in the home. The second session will be with the child invidiually. During the individual session with the child, the clinician will assess for presenting symptoms, gain insight into the child's experience in the home, school and other areas address the child's concerns and verify degree of impairment.
Three clinical assessments are provided to assist in the diagnostic process, These assessments are widely used and reliable assessments within the field, These assessments are:
- Becks Youth Inventory -2: Depression
- Becks Youth Inventory -2: Anxiety
Once the clincial interviews and assessments have been completed, a final session is scheduled in which the clinician will review with the parents. In this final session parents will have an opportunity to ask questions about the results as well as discuss the potential for ongoing treatment should the results warrant such action.
