Alexis Johnston is a Licensed Social Worker through the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Alexis earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Bowling Green State University. She is currently attending The Ohio State University and will be graduating with her Master of Social Work with a clinical focus on Mental Health and Substance Use practice.
Prior to joining Nemeth Counseling, Alexis worked in the non-profit sector in the Toledo area. She provided assistance to the counseling team at Lutheran Social Services. Alexis co-facilitated court ordered aggression management groups as well Intensive and Non-Intensive Outpatient groups for clients dealing with substance use.
At Nemeth Counseling, Alexis works as a clinical intern at the Westerville Location, providing mental health services to a diverse caseload. Alexis uses evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Strength’s Based Therapy and active listening to best meet her client’s needs and to help her client’s create paths to meet their goals. She strongly believes that therapy should be a collaborative effort. Alexis offers support to clients and fosters a safe environment to build skills and develop strategies to handle life events.
