Lindsey Basista is a Licensed Social Worker through the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Lindsey earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Sexuality Studies from The Ohio State University. She continued her education at Ohio State and graduated from the university’s Master of Social Work program with a clinical focus on Mental Health and Substance Use practice.
Prior to joining Nemeth Counseling, Lindsey served as the Program Coordinator for Ohio State’s HIV/STI Testing Program for four years. While leading the Testing Program, Lindsey increased access to services for the OSU community, mentored student volunteers, counseled clients, and expanded trainings to include work with Transgender / Gender Non Conforming individuals, international students, and survivors of sexual assault. Following this experience, Lindsey served as a Clinical Social Work Intern at Nemeth Counseling for one year. During this time she maintained a caseload consisting of children, adolescents and adults.
At Nemeth Counseling, Lindsey provides counseling services to a diverse caseload including adults, children, and couples. Lindsey uses evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Lindsey views the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative one, in which the clinician and client work together to make decisions that support the client’s life goals, establish and maintain healthy coping skills, and nurture the client’s self-worth. Lindsey strives to provide a safe, trusting, and empathic environment to carefully explore your diverse challenges and strengths.
