Sara Parko is a License in Social Worker through the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Sara received her Master’s degree in Social Work, with a focus in Mental Health and Substance Use practice from The Ohio State University. Sara completed a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from DePauw University and worked for ten years in marketing. Sara’s work within the community providing advocacy services to sexual assault survivors inspired her to change careers. Sara continues to be passionate about survivor services as well as Perinatal (Maternal) Mental Health and is pursuing her Perinatal Mental Health Certificate (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International.
While pursuing her Masters degree, Sara gained valuable experience as a Clinical Intern at OhioGuidestone providing community based clients with therapy and case management services. She also interned at Mt. Carmel West as a Social Work Intern in the NICU and Mother and Infant departments providing support and case management to newborns, new mothers and their families.
At Nemeth Counseling, Sara provides outpatient therapy to adults, couples and families. Through the use of multiple evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy and Trauma-Informed Care, Sara works to collaboratively address each client’s mental health need. Sara believes that a therapist’s role is to support and empower clients towards their desired growth and fulfillment.
Sara works to provide an inclusive and safe counseling space, offering respect and compassion to each of her clients. She enjoys working with individuals of all cultures, races, ages, spiritualities, sexual orientations and genders.
